Updates on JCY International

As promised, an update for JCY international ipo. I know the subscription period has ended today at 5pm. The outcome is I did not subscribe. I repeat: I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE JCY INTERNATIONAL IPO. One of the reason is the PE is a lil' too high if we were to compare to its peer, Notion Vtec. PE for JCY is 20 while for Notion it's only 12. Of course it might rise to RM2.20 on its first day of listing. But in the long run, it might lose its steam and eventually will go to its fair value, which is PE around 15-18.

Other than the PE thingy, here's the reason why I did not make any move for it: I LOVE NOTION VTEC

Anyway, I also did not get my hands on Notion. Today I bought in something, GENS-C1. It's one of the call warrant for Genting Singapore listed in KLSE. There are 5 GENS call warrant in KLSE. So why GENS-C1? Basically, its because of the low premium. I don't wanna show the premium calculation here. You can calculate it yourself (you can drop me a comment if you're desperate for the calculation). Why GENS call warrant now? Because of the casino license. Eventually it will fly. Let's see if it really flies before CNY. :D

Frying my brain daily..

Everyday, I spend around an hour talking on the phone. And, I have been doing that for the past few years. Reason is I'm too lazy to text.

I'll place the phone next to my ear (of course la, put at your butt meh?), when I'm having my conversation via my cell. Sometimes, during my conversation, I'll feel a lil' uncomfortable and I can feel the heat at my ear. I know it has to do with the radiation from the cellphone, but I've never bothered about its effect to me. Yes, I've been hearing that talking via cellphone will cause brain tumor and etc, all sort of things. But I think it is not scientifically proven. And recently, I read an article on cellphone radiation. Guess what.. the cellphone radiation is actually useful in preventing Alzheimer's disease. Read this.

Well, till now I'm still not too sure if cellphone radiation is harmful to human. But nevertheless, I have recently made a wise decision by getting myself a pair of bluetooth headset. Its from Nokia.. who don't like Nokia stuffs! Did I mention 'wise decision'? I thought I have just said that there's no proven fact that cellphone radiation is harmful, and now what? The reason I think it's good to talk via bluetooth headset is the permitted power when it's receiving and transmitting signal to the cellphone. There are 3 classes of bluetooth, which is categorized by the maximum operating range. Class 1 refers to maximum operating range of 100m, while Class 2 and 3 refers to 10m and 1m respectively. Remember this, in order to have higher operating range, the permitted power must be higher. When the power is higher, the energy involved is also higher. OK, I don't wish to go into details... To make it simple: Class1~100mW, Class2~2.5mW, Class3~1mW. As for cellphone, the power permitted is 2W. Now you can see the difference between cellphone and bluetooth's power. To make the calculation simple, assume you talk via your cell for 1 hour (=60minutes=3600seconds). The energy involved is 2W x 3600s = 7200J. If you use bluetooth headset for your conversation, here's the calculation: Class1=360J, Class2=9J and Class3=3.6J. The differences between talking with and without bluetooth is so significant!

So, which one to choose? Luckily, there's not much choice when choosing bluetooth headset. Most of them come with Class 2 bluetooth hardware. I believe it's rare to have class1 for bluetooth headset because of its power, and by the way, why do you need such a big operation range? Your phone is not walkie talkie dude. No class3 because, you don't need it when you're so close to your phone. No point having double radiation.

My advice to all of you who can't live without cellphone, please get a bluetooth headset today. You do not want to become like this:

PS: I'm not involve in any bluetooth headset distribution business. Please do not email or message me for bluetooth headsets' prices. Thanks. :D

Success Transformer (again)

Today, the share price went as high as RM1.27 before closing at RM1.23. The share price is up not only because the market sentiment is better (dow jones up more than 100pts the night before), but also due to the post by this famous blogger: http://malaysiafinance.blogspot.com/2010/02/seremban-engineering-ipo-approved.html

I believe there are many willing buyers at current level of price. Of course, this counter has a lot of upside potential, and RM1.70 is achieveable in near future. Normally the price surge will be more obvious when there's official announcement regarding their corporate exercise. For Success' case, is when they officially announce the allocation of SEB ipo to STC shareholders, and the entitlement date.

Let's continue to monitor this counter for the rest of the week. If it manages to go above RM1.30 and stays there, the announcement is near. :D

JCY INTERNATIONAL BERHAD

JCY International Bhd, will be Malaysia’s second-largest initial public offering in six years, as they offer 25.9 percent of its stock in its IPO.

JCY’s will offer as many as 530.2 million shares, where 470,317,000 of the shares will be offered to institutional investors and the remainder (59,893,000: 40,898,000 to Malaysian public via balloting, 18,995,000 Eligible Directors, employees and persons who have contributed to the success of JCY) to individuals.

The sale may raise as much as RM1 billion (US$295 million), and that would make it the second-largest IPO in six years in Malaysia, after Maxis Bhd.’s record RM11.2 billion offering last year.

The retail price is currently set at RM2.00 per share and it can go lower if the institutional price is below RM2.11 (Final retail price will be either RM2.00 or 95% of the institutional price, whichever is lower).

Here are the tentative dates for this IPO:
Listing Schedule
Prospectus Date 01/02/2010
Opening of Applications 01/02/2010
Closing of Applications 08/02/2010
Tentative Balloting Date 11/02/2010
Tentative Allotment Date 24/02/2010
Tentative Listing Date 25/02/2010

Currently I'm still studying the prospectus, and has yet to decide to subscribe to this ipo. Of course the price for the opening day might be affected by the market sentiments. It can be the next Maxis where the price will shoot up on the first day of listing and remain stagnant for quite sometime. More updates on this ipo very soon! Stay tune folks!
